Wildwood Green Golf Community

This community consists of 242 homes which have been built around the Wildwood Green Golf Course.  While the development of the housing in Wildwood dates back only to the mid 1980’s the golf course history is of several decades.

In 1955 Ralph Lang, a PGA Professional and pro at the Carolina Country Club saw the potential for another golf club in the Raleigh area. After studying several sites in the area he chose this site. The original property was 124 acres of pine, hardwoods, cornfields surrounded by the Kennihan property. During the construction of the course, many interesting artifacts were discovered including Indian relics and a “still”. At the time of it’s construction Wildwood was so far north of Raleigh’s City limits it was listed in the Durham telephone book.
The course was completed in 1960 and name Wildwood Green by Mrs. Lang. The character of the original private club was recreational rather than social and many golf tournaments were play here. Six tennis courts and an Olympic sized swimming pool rounded out the faculties available to the athletically oriented membership. While the competition form North Ridge and MacGregor Downs Country Clubs membership at Wildwood Green fell in the early 1980’s. Upon the death of Ralph Lang in 1983, the family decided to sell the property. With this sale began Wildwood’s new history as a community of homes as well as the semi private golf course.

For more information on the homes that are available for sale in this great community, please feel free to contact me and I will be happy to forward you a list of all available homes.
